Yes it is possible.

Wait so this song has the ability to increase in levels of adorable? Correct. RAC remixes never fail to impress. This one in particular illustrates their ability to take a song and turn it up a notch. In this case turn it up five notches of cute.

You all thought you were sick of Edward Sharpe and The Magnetic Zeros’ sickly sweet, Home, didn’t you? Nay. Not anymore. Don’t be surprised if you find yourself throwing up in your mouth a little and eating it all up again. Yeah, it happens. And it’s a wonderful way to start a day. No judgments.

Edward Sharpe And The Magnetic Zeros - Home (RAC Remix)

At last, at last.

My God. This woman. Only Lauryn Hill would be able to go nuts, check back in from crazy town, and make a song that trumps anyone else’s in comparison. Thats just how she does. I know she hates my kind [white people], but I’m sorry, Ms. Hill I have never been able to get enough of you. Welcome back.

New Cut Copy

How does everyone else feel about the steer away from Cut Copys signature 80’s pop dance rock sound? They’ve made a clear cut transition from that to some sock hop bubble gum rock thing. I could take it or leave it. And by leaving it I mean continuously bouncing round to their modern take on new wave sound that was heard on the original Bright Like Neon Love.

Man, what happened? They stuck with that goodness that we came to know and love on In Ghost Colours. Yet from the looks of their latest single, Where I’m Going, they’re heading to different places than I had hoped. Cut Copy and I have come to a cross roads. Alright, alright i’ve been telling myself it’s only a single. C’mon they still have to put out a whole album. With the solidarity they’ve demonstrated in the past I’m going to give them the benefit of the doubt. Which is a rare occasion with me. Ah, but I love them so.

It’s Block Party on The Exposure! Remember that snazzy little downloadable mixtape (yes, this one) I bestowed on you all for your summer time activities, i.e. swimmin, loungin, and cocktailin? (that’s a verb isn’t it?) Well it’s just your luck that those artists and more will be played today times two. Who doesn’t love a good twofer? My motto for any such twofer remains as you had me at two.

Listen up and relax, I’ll ease you through that summer time perma-buzz.

J.Hoke’s Summer Thus Far

Listen up! The Exposure’s very first mixtape. Is it really a mixtape when I haven’t physically mixed a thing? J.Hoke hasn’t been hitting the turntables by any means. I’m openly admitting my ability to mooch off of everyone else’s musical capabilities. I just got that good eye. Or ear rather. I’d say I have a good ear.

So anyway here it is, these are The Exposure’s summer time hits. Pre-start of summer that is.

I’m talking about Dead Man’s Bones.

I’m prefacing this overdue entry, before gasps are heard, by saying I’m aware of the time it’s taken me to muster up the finger strength to churn one out. So let’s start anew. A fresh start with a fresh entry, you dig? Alright. Onwards:

Lose Your Soul — Dead Man’s Bones [click to download]

On Sunday June twenty Seventh, Eagle Rock’s Center of Arts and all of its patrons within were struck by a serious case of infatuation… for the music. No seriously, for the music! What’s that you say? Ryan Gosling’s in that band? Here I thought amidst the infinite glazed eyes, soft smiles, and quiet swoons, we were all just breathing in the signature moody tunes from Dead Man’s Bones. Well then, if that’s the case let’s not forget his equally lovely counterpart Zack Shields.

Gosling and Shields have crafted a sound experience that feels strange to listen to outside of Halloween. As a duo they’ve created a particular spooky style that falls under an inclusive umbrella of genres that would otherwise clash. But these crooners have a knack for musical hybrids. Off the top of my head they bring to mind a retro-avant-garde-creepy-Tim Burton-do wop-zombie-indie-rock style. Or something like that.

‘Bones had a vision for the Spanish villa esque center that night. It was transformed from a swanky craft and gallery house to a sock hop. Streamers, twinkling lights, cotton candy, popcorn, snow cones and cupcakes lined the place. Oh and there was wine. So maybe, a high school sock hop where the chaperons were allowed to drink in private.

Dead Man’s Bones was a unique experience, not a concert. The “experience” was reminiscent of Disney lands’ Haunted Mansion, except when the audience was made to sit Indian style on the floor. That was new. Interspersed between hits such as “Lose Your Soul,” and “In the Room Where You Sleep,” were performances by the Bob Baker Marionette show, magicians Tina Lenert and Rob Zabrecky, a harpist, and some weird psychedelic musician playing an instrument you couldn’t even see. Not to mention they were alongside the Silver Lake Conservatory Children’s Choir featured in their self titled album. I don’t even like kids but damn I coulda snatched one of them up. So if ya get the chance, or the opportunity rather, take advantage.

Of the opportunity, not the children.

The Exposure, get exposed!

Better late than never,J.Hoke’s on right now. Listen up!

Special Guests in the studio: Wafeek, Rudeluv, & Dez Ysuf

From noon-two these hip-hopsters will be exposing their latest tracks. But not themselves. Sorry ladies. Whats the point, it’s only radio anyway.

at the risk of sounding like a total hipster, if you could play anything by Washed Out, that would be awesome. I've had his ep's on loop alllllll morning long

I gotta say its better to risk sounding like one then denying the fact that you are one. No?

And yes, yes i shall. New Theory it is.

Listen up to some good tunes.

Listen Here: The Exposure.

Noon-Two.

Listen and be exposed by Jhoke.

In case you need the clarification (I would):

this is not the naked kind of expose. It is the musical kind.

Song of the Day.

Caribou — Sun

Did anyone else think Caribou was a band? No? Just me on that one? Damn. Well at least i’m no longer in the dark. Unbeknownst to myself they are not a subpar band but an electronic frenzy of far out tunes. Ya dig?

These nights are haunting me,I don’t want to run I don’t want to leave.

Now that you’re standing closer, I don’t want to run I don’t want to leave.

You caught me. I willingly admit that I am late to this party. Little Dragon is good! Damn I’ve been missing out. Bad judgment call, my b. Acting like I knew what all there songs sounded like. Clearly I didn’t.
